Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only superstar to have crossed from country into the mainstream, and to become an international icon of pop culture. Swift has thrown off her country roots as if it were a second-skin, revealing herself to be one of the best pop singers and songwriters within her generation. She has the ability to harness the current zeitgeist and create her personal. This was evident in her early songs, particularly with regard to the neo pay homage towards Tim McGraw. On her 2nd album, Fearless (2008) Swift showcased a writer getting to know herself. The album ended up with a lot of appeal not just within the U.S. where it racked the record with six platinum singles, due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well with the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior success, and catapulted the singer into superstardom. Swift's popularity continued to grow with her following three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) -- and saw her move confidently into the realm of pop in which she was already a part. Her popularity grew even after she reformulated her approach in 2020's more streamlined siblings Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed at the top of the charts.
